A Tree for all Seasons!

Two confessions: First, I am so sorry for the "silent blog." I have been out of town for Spring Break. I had the best of intentions to blog remotely. But, we can see how that worked out. Second, this great idea is not mine. But, I am not completely sure where I got it. My best guess would be somewhere on the Teach Preschool facebook page. If anyone out there can claim this wonderful idea, PLEASE let me know. I would be thrilled to credit you with the idea here.

Now, let's get to work:

These are wonderful. I traced each child's hand onto brown craft paper. Then, I cut out four of each hand. These hand cut-outs became our tree trunks. We glued them to a sheet of craft paper. Then I cut out green leaves for summer, orange leaves for fall, snow flakes for winter, and pink blossoms for spring for each tree respectively. The children glued it all together. I did this project over two days. We only worked on one tree at a time avoid confusion.

To expand on this craft project, we also went for a walk to see what our trees in the neighborhood currently look like. We also shared several "season" books in class.

  1. I love it - and yes our kindergarten class did this too only ours was a tad different. I just love exploring the four seasons!

  2. Hey - just found this through a Teach Preschool tweet. I'm now following you.
This is such a cute idea. I'm just getting started with my website/blog as well, Preschool Universe.
