"Mouse, Mouse" - A Color Game
This is a great game for toddlers learning their colors.
Items needed:
Felt (in colors you are aiming to teach)
Felt mouse
Felt board
Scissors
Marker
I cut houses out in green, blue, yellow, black, white, pink, red, and orange. You also need to cut out one mouse. I used gray felt for that. I did not use any kind of pattern. These are all fairly easy shapes. The only thing you need to be concerned with is making sure that your mouse is small enough to fit behind the houses.
When we play the game, I place each house on the felt board and hide the mouse behind one of the houses. Each child then takes a turn to say:
"Mouse, mouse are you in the (name a color) house?" And that child removes the house.
We play until the mouse is found.
We cheer when the mouse is found and then play again.
Toddlesr never tire of this easy, fun, and educational game.
** To expand the game, you can teach the children their colors in another language. We are playing the game in Spanish in our class this month.
